These groups provide an opportunity to develop a better understanding of an academic discipline by applying what you learn in the classroom to real life experiences.

Accounting Society

Purpose and Goals of Organization:

To prepare accounting students for professional roles in accounting and the business world.  To assist accounting students in the selection of an area of specialization.  To grant accounting students the opportunity to relate to people at all levels of the accounting curriculum.To promote collegiality and fellowship and provide service to the university and community.

Membership Requirements and Obligations: 

Fifty-one percent of the total membership must be currently enrolled students at IPFW and only those members may vote and hold office.  Voting membership shall be open to all student currently enrolled in at least one credit hour at IPFW.  Voting members are required to pay $5 dues and attend one meeting for a two semester membership.

Activities and Events Planned for Current Year:  Four meetings per semester and bus trip to Indianapolis.

Actuarial Club

Purpose and Goals of Organization:

The purpose of the club is to provide IPFW students majoring in mathematics the opportunity:  to learn about the actuary profession, be connected with local employers and organizations associated with the actuary profession, attend lectures and meetings given by local employers and organizations associated with the actuary profession, explore internships/employments in the field of actuary, and form support groups to prepare for actuary exams.

Membership Requirements and Obligations:

The club is free and intended for all IPFW math majors.

Activities and Events Planned for Current Year:

Sevety-five percent of the total membership must be currently enrolled students at IPFW and only those members may vote and hold office.  Voting membership shall be open to all students currently enrolled in at one 3 credit hour course.  visits and talks by local actuaries, students research presentations, student participation of Midwest Actuarial Conference

American Choral Directors Assocation, IPFW Chapter

Purpose and Goals of Organization: 

To promote choral singing which provides artistic, cultural, and spiritual experiences for participants.  To promote the finest types of choral experiences possible.  To foster the organization and development of all choral groups in Fort Wayne.  To promote the development of choral musical in all places of worship.  To promote the understanding of choral music as an important medium of contemporary artistic expression.  To promote research in the field of choral music.  To encourage choral composition of superior quality.  To encourage rehearsal procedures conducive to attaining the highest possible level of musicianship and artistic performance. 

Membership Requirements and Obligations: 

Voting members must be current students at IPFW and enrolled in at least one music class.  Must be students in good standing at IPFW as defined by the IPFW Student Handbook.  Must have paid annual membership dues of $5.  Must attend at least one meeting each semester.

AMSA Pre-Med Club

Purpose and Goals of Organization:

Facilitate the medical community exposure and promote medically oriented experiences for its members.  Provide support and guidance for the application processes to allopathic and osteopathic schools of medicine.  Provide course counseling and guidance for MCAT preparation.  Provide social-academic activities and support for all club members.  To provide an environment that supports the creative ideas of all club members.  Increase the knowledge of health information among members and the general public.  Periodically re-evaluate the above purposes and ensure they are carried out in a proper fashion.

Membership Requirements and Obligations:

Students enrolled at IPFW who are either current affiliate members of AMSA or in the process of applying to AMSA and have paid current chapter dues shall be considered active members of AMSA Pre-Med Club.  Active voting membership shall be open to all students currently enrolled in at least one credit hour at IPFW, who have paid club dues, and maintain at least a 2.00 cumulative GPA at IPFW.

American Sign Language-Pah! Club

Purpose and Goals of Organization:

To promote American Sign Language and culture in a positive way on the IPFW campus.  To give IPFW students who are studying American Sign Language an opportunity to use and improve their language skills and learn more about Deaf culture.

Membership Requirements and Obligations:

Fifty-one percent of the total membership must be currently enrolled students at IPFW and only those members may vote and hold office.  Voting membership shall be open to all students currently enrolled in at least 1 credit hour at IPFW.  All members shall pay dues to the treasurer at the first business meeting of each semester.

American Society of Civil Engineers, IPFW Student Chapter

Purpose and Goals of Organization: 

Encourage the development of a professional consciousness, introduce students to the profession of Civil Engineering, afford the opportunity to become acquainted and to practice working together effectively, promote the spirit of congeniality among students, and provide friendly contact with the engineering profession.

Membership Requirements and Obligations:

Fifty-one percent of the total membership must be currently enrolled students at IPFW.  Voting membership shall be open to all active members currently enrolled in at least 1 credit hour at IPFW.  Each voting member must maintain at least a 2.00 semester and cumulative GPA.  Member due of the club shall be $10 per semester and are due at the second regular meeting of the semester.  Students must also register as an official ASCE member online.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers

Purpose and Goals of Organization:

Scientific and educational purposes directed toward the advancement of the theory and practice of mechanical engineering, the allied branches of engineering, and the related arts and sciences.  Professional objectives that are directed toward the advancement of the standing of the members of the profession it serves.  Promote the advancement of the organization and its members to the university and community.

Membership Requirements and Obligations:

Fifty-one percent of the total membership must be currently enrolled students at IPFW and only those members may vote, hold office, and represent the organization/university in an official capacity. Voting membership is open to all students currently enrolled in at least 3 credit hours at IPFW.  Each member shall be required to pay $10 per semester in dues.

American Society of Microbiology

Purpose and Goals of Organization:

Promote student interest and further improve the quality of the Microbiology program at IPFW.  Create high school student interest in microbiology and their attendance at IPFW.  Provide aid for students in Microbiology at IPFW with respect to academic curriculum, research, and employment.  Increase student participation in local, state, and national ASM meetings.

Membership Requirements and Obligations:

Fifty-one percent of the total membership must be currently enrolled students at IPFW and only those members may vote and hold office.  Active voting membership shall be open to all students currently enrolled in at least one credit hour at IPFW, who have paid club dues, and maintain at least a 2.00 cumulative GPA at IPFW.

Anthropology Club

Purpose and Goals of Organization:

The club will stimulate and encourage interest and involvement of the student body in anthropology.  The club will promote community-wide interest in anthropology.

Membership Requirements and Obligations: 

Active membership shall be open to enrolled IPFW students having a GPA of 2.0 or higher.  Dues of $2 shall be collected at the second meeting of each semester. Expulsion of member will occur if these requirements are not fulfilled.

Arabic Language and Culture Club

Purpose and Goals of Organization:

To bring together non-native and native Arabic speakers to develop their Arabic language skills.  Promote cultural understanding of Arabic communities and countries.  To be Arabic ambassadors for IPFW and the Fort Wayne community.  To promote IPFW's Arabic language program.

Membership Requirements and Obligations: Fifty-one percent of the total membership must be currently enrolled students at IPFW and only those members may vote.  Voting membership shall be open to all students currently enrolled in at least 3 credit hours at IPFW.  No membership dues.

Art Students League

Purpose and Goals of Organization: 

To organize art-related events, such as open critiques wherein student work can be presented for discussion with fellow students, faculty, and visitors.  To organize any possible trips, lectures, visiting artists, or related events to further involvement in the art community.  To unite art students and promote awareness of the arts within IPFW as well as the entire community.  

Membership Requirements and Obligations:

ASL is open to all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members; fifty one percent of must be currently enrolled students. Voting membership shall be open to all students currently enrolled in at least six credit hours at IPFW. There are no membership dues.

Activities and Events Planned for Current Year:  Trip to Memphis, TN to attend Metalsmithing Repair Days workshop

Association for Computing Machinery

Purpose and Goals of Organization:

To promote and increase knowledge of and greater interest in the design, development, construction, languages, management, and applications of computing.  To promote grater interest in computing and its applications.  To provide means of communication between people having interests in computing.   

Membership Requirements and Obligations:

Fifty one percent of the total membership must be currently enrolled students at IPFW.  To attain voting membership, you must be enrolled in at least one credit hour at IPFW, hold a 2.5 semester or cumulative GPA and will adhere to the IPFW Code of Student Rights.

Astronomy Club

Purpose and Goals of Organization:

To promote the study of the science of astronomy through public education in the Fort Wayne community and surrounding areas. To improve and increase the Astronomy club members knowledge of astronomy. 

Membership Requirements and Obligations:

Fifty-one percent of the total membership must be currently enrolled students at IPFW and only those members may vote and hold office.  Non-voting memberships may be held by faculty, staff, alumni, non-IPFW students, or community.  No financial dues are required to become or continue as a member of the Astronomy club. 

Activities and Events Planned for Current Year:  Star gazing events/ cookout at the observatory, and many more events
